Our Giving Valleys

Our God rules over hills, valleys and plains. Up in Minnesota, congregations sing of valleys so thick with corn that they laugh and sing. Every year, Pioneer Valley folks in Western Massachusetts celebrate “Giving Valley Days.” The same thing happens in the Roanoke Valley of Virginia; and in the Silicon Valley of Santa Clara and San Francisco.

Bowling Green Office of LSS Works To Strengthen Families

Recently Samantha, a mother referred by The Cocoon Shelter sought support through LSS services to heal from domestic violence and a growing addiction to pain medication. After assessment by drug and alcohol counselor, J. Johnson, CDCA, she was entered into the Suboxone program with on-going recovery groups to address both substance abuse and trauma issues.

Sixty volunteers attended a luncheon in their honor on June 6 at Grace Lutheran Church in Toledo. Each of our volunteers has a strong commitment to the ministry they are involved in. They will schedule vacations and even surgeries around their volunteer responsibilities. That’s commitment!

Lutheran Social Services of Northwestern Ohio (LSSNWO) is a faith-based agency founded in 1911 by the Fremont Conference of the American Lutheran Church. LSSNWO is affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) and recognized by the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (LCMS). More than 200 Lutheran congregations in Northwestern Ohio are corporate members of LSSNWO. Lutheran Social Services also is a member of one of the nation’s largest service organization – Lutheran Services of America.
