Volunteer Opportunites

Would you like to make a difference in someone’s life? You can by becoming a volunteer for Lutheran Social Services of Northwestern Ohio

LSS has volunteer opportunities for people of all ages. Whether you volunteer once a year, once a month or once a week, the contribution of your time and talents is both needed and appreciated.

Volunteering is something you can do by yourself or with family and friends, in your congregation or at one of our facilities. And by volunteering, you help LSS achieve its mission of providing human services that will strengthen the mental, moral, physical, social and spiritual well-being of those who seek the agency's services.

Volunteer opportunities include – but are not limited to – the following activities:

Volunteer Guardian Program
serving as a guardian to those in need of assistance by:

  • Ensuring that the basic needs of the ward are being met

  • Seeking services that will help the ward reach or maintain his or her highest potential

  • Authorizing medical care, counseling or other treatment as needed

  • Executing releases of information on the ward’s behalf

  • Making end of life decisions for the benefit of the ward.

Board of Director or Advisory Councils serving on a volunteer board or advisory council

Building Maintenance (carpentry, painting, cleaning, electrical, etc.) in Toledo, Findlay or Lima

Clerical (computer, record keeping, typing, phoning) at all branches

Mailings in Toledo administrative office

Cooks for small luncheons (5-15 people) and/or other special events (up to 100 people) in Toledo or Lima

Emergency Food Pantry in Findlay, Lima and Toledo

Open Dorr Family Resource Center (Toledo) in its after school and children’s summer programs, babysitting for 3-5 year olds Parent/Child interactive program

Crossroads Family Resource Center (receptionist, tutoring) in Toledo

Rosa Morgan Center (receptionist, activity helper, kitchen helper and musicians) in Toledo

Receptionist at Fremont, Findlay, Kenton, Lima, Lima Clubhouse, Perrysburg, Toledo and Wapakoneta

Speakers’ Bureau (assist in telling the LSS story) in all regions.
