Toledo Pantry Shares its Past and Present and Looks to the Future

There is no better way to share information about a program than to have a hands-on project so that’s what we did. Just before school was out, several middle students and two adults from St. Joseph’s in Sylvania visited the Toledo Emergency Food Pantry. Not only did they learn about the pantry, but they
participated by sorting and stocking a large donation of 60 boxes from the Feed 5000 project. They worked fast and learned quickly where each food group was in our choice pantry.

Looking to the future, a Capacity Building Grant through the Toledo Northwest Ohio Food Bank was submitted in early June. The grant was for the purchase of a new upright freezer in order to store all of our USDA meat and other frozen items on site. The full grant was awarded June 30 and we expect delivery of a brand new large capacity freezer in late July.

The Food Pantry can always use volunteers.

Canned Goods Donations and Sculpture

Before the August 10 Lost and Found concert, Pastor Steve Ramsey and the youth of Good Hope Lutheran Church, Arlington welcomed everyone to watch the construction of two can sculptures, using 1,200 15 oz. cans. The structure was created around wooden frame to resemble a church. Can good donations were also provided by local church groups and were donated to the LSS Emergency Food Pantry located at 115 East Lima Street, Findlay.
