Rosa Morgan Welcomes New Program Coordinator Jalon Harris!

Jalon Harris has been named the new program coordinator for The Rosa Morgan Center. She completed her bachelorate degree at Bowling Green State University, majoring in gerontology and health promotion and went on to complete her master’s degree at The University of Toledo, majoring in recreation therapy and geriatrics.

Jalon has been employed at the University of Toledo as an instructor for recreation therapy intervention courses. She taught animal assisted therapy, assisted technology, therapeutic arts, horticulture therapy and stress and relaxation. In this past year, Jalon has also been working on “Effects of Dancing Heart Program (DHP) as therapeutic recreation intervention on risk of falling among community dwelling elderly,” which was submitted and has been accepted for publication this fall.
 
Jalon volunteered at Rosa Morgan as a clinical student in 2008 and 2009 while attending the University of Toledo. She completed her geriatrics clinical and loved it so much that she begged her instructor to let her complete her physical rehabilitation clinical at the Rosa Morgan Center as well. Jalon frequently returned to visit Rosa Morgan and could be heard telling the clients, “I will be back!” The Rosa Morgan clients were thrilled to learn that Jalon was fulfilling her promise to return when she accepted the Program Coordinator position. Jalon feels the position at Rosa Morgan is a dream come true. She states,“I have never found such a great group of seniors to work with, the clients are like my family; I am so blessed to have this wonderful opportunity.”
