The Program Has Recruited And Trained 28 Volunteers
Volunteer Guardianship Program Continues to Grow!
The Volunteer Guardianship Program continues to grow and train new volunteers. We recently had another volunteer assigned and trained four more volunteers. This brings our total to 11 Wards appointed to a volunteer guardian and 28 volunteers trained. Please join me in welcoming these volunteers to their new positions and to say, “Thank You!” for their dedication to the Wards they serve.
We also continue to market the program throughout the community and recently participated in the 12th Annual Senior Safety Workshop conducted by the local TRIAD council on October 25, 2007 at MUO/UT campus. The day was packed full of good information and guest speakers. Some of the topics were: transportation options for Seniors, what to do to prevent falls, identity theft and fraud, and efforts by local blockwatch groups.
The Volunteer Guardianship Program depends on those who care enough to become a volunteer. We are currently recruiting for the next training in Spring 2008. This is a great way to give to those less fortunate who have no one to advocate on their behalf. Please contact Christine Miller, LSW, Director, or Monica Slovak, MSW, VGP Social Worker, at (419) 243-9178, if you are interested in becoming a volunteer.
